The "Do it Yourself" generation has changed the way we sell flowers. All the DYI folks out there now have a source for fresh cut wholesale flowers. Sure the San Francisco market is close, but it lacks in consistency and variety. Costco has low cost flowers, but a slim selection. Petal to the Metal has teamed up with numerous California farms and direct importers to offer wholesale flower services to Reno and Tahoe.

A Few Tips For Purchasing In Bulk
When it comes down to buying flowers wholesale, there are a few vital things you should know. We will always guide and assist our clients, but in the end, your care is what will keep them looking and performing at their peak! These are general rule of thumb guidelines--
- Flowers need fresh and clean water--preferable cold! Change out water and cut stems daily. Flower preservative does work to extend life!
-Your flowers will need to be processed immediately after purchase. This includes cutting stems, removing leaves and removing packaging.
Buying Bulk Flowers Will Save You Money, But Be Aware Of Quantity Standards
Roses and carnations come in bulk packages of 25 stems each bunch.
Tulips, lilies, gerbera daisies, dendrobium orchids, and spray roses are 10 stem bunches.
Field flowers like belladonna, stock, larkspur, wax flower, snap dragons, and other fillers are packed in a growers bunch (by weight) The stem counts on these will vary by farm. Buy accordingly!
Keep Your Flowers Cold! 40-55 Degrees Fahrenheit
Allow ample time for your flowers to develop and open! Fresh flowers can be tricky. Carnations and ranunculus take 5-7 days to open. Roses take 3-5 days.
